Hi guyzzz, happy Friday. Yeah I said Happy Friday, because Friday is the day that announce the weekend( even though it is short). So happy Friday again, I hope you had a good week.
So guyyzz, this is one of those Fridays where I really don’t want to write because of either laziness, activities, sickness etc; but I got to write. Consistency is the Key.
Yesterday I was talking with a friend and I realized something I think some christians have to know.
In our daily life as a christian, we have seen and heard different teaching in various aspect of life. To the point that it even feel like they are contradicting each other. But today I want to talk about our behaviour as christians.
We have been told that we are the salt and light of the earth, that we have to represent Christ on earth, that your life has to be a testimony etc. Others will tell you that God looks at your heart, you don’t need to prove anything etc. Both things are not wrong, but I just think there is an in between.
When Jesus asked us to go and make disciples, that we are the salt and the light, He didn’t mean that as you heard it instantly your life will change and the next day you will be perfect and you will behave perfect in all aspects. NO. I believe in process.
And I have seen different types of Christians concerning that.
◦ The judgmental
They are the one talked about in Matthew 7v3:”And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”. They will spend their time inspecting other people’s behaviour and judging them for everything they do with pride and arrogance, thinking they are perfect. Forgetting that the beam they have in their eyes is bigger than the mote.
Brethren no one is perfect and is not because the sin of the one next to you is visible and yours is not, that you are better than them. In other words; because someone is going to club and drinking and you are a bitter, jealous and angry as a person; doesn’t mean that you a better christian. Your sins are just hidden compared to his.
It is not everyone that has an “unworthy” behaviour that is a bad person. Sometimes people are struggling with stuff, they want to stop but they are finding it difficult. They really want to change but they don’t know how to do. And our duty as mature Christians is to provide advice and leading them in the truth of their identity with LOVE. Without calling anyone unworthy, because at the end of the day, no one is worthy of God’s grace. And even more, but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound( Roman 5:20).
1Corinthiens 16v14:”Let all that ye do be done in love.
◦ The prover
This category is for people who want soto much to be the salt that they are faking good behaviour. Let me explain myself. Those christians are so much focused on showing a good character that they forget ot to actually work on it. Brethren if you have a good heart, what is inside of you will definitely come out. Stop trying to force yourself to act right everytime in front of people without actually going to the Presence of God with those imperfections and allowing Him to change and transform you,
So God asking you to represent Him in the earth was a call for you to allow yourself to be transformed ( from the inside ) by the renewal of your mind ( Romans 12v2 ).
Today decide to work on those imperfections with Christ and you will see the change. It will be gradual and it will ask you to let go of yourself to allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. Letting go by the way signifies allowing God to take a step before you, and sometimes it will means to simply obey.
In other words in the process of working on your character He will sometimes ask you to apologise even though you are not wrong, He will ask you to show love to that one you can’t stand. And you will just have to obey whether you want it or not. But contrary to how you use to do before where you were just acting to prove that you are a Christian; by obeying to God’s directive, He will actually break you to form a new you.
Trust the process
To conclude I will simply say this, the journey as a christian is not child play. You fall, you make mistakes, but the most important is that you always get up. So always trust God, and learn to have discernment and a deep intimacy with God to be able to know His ways, to know when you are receiving a wrong teaching or when you are teaching wrong.
Also, if you are already working on yourself, I will just tell you this, don’t pressure yourself. Sometimes it feels like we are never going to change, it feels like that character is too rooted but nothing is impossible for God. It will be fine.
God loves you
