Idol

Today I would like to talk about idols, I think each of you has heard of them, if only in a movie or during a debate with friends. But today I would like to approach the subject of idols in a much more specific context by relating them to two categories of Christians namely spiritual introverts and spiritual extroverts.

But first, I’ll start by defining the concept of « idol » a bit, before we get into the details of the two categories mentioned above. An idol is anything that separates you from the will of God for your life or that has taken the place of God in your life. Most of the time, Christians tend to limit idols to « golden calves », (manifested in the Bible more precisely in the book of Exodus when the Israelites in the desert, not seeing Moses return, built a gold calf which was to represent a visible God whom they could worship); to statuettes, images, or any physical representation of God.
I’m not saying it’s a false ideology, but it’s quite limited. As said above, it is also EVERYTHING that takes the place of God in your life, or that is raised above God. It could be a friendship or a romantic relationship, an activity, an electronic device, an object of value etc. You may be wondering « how can this represent an idol, these are just normal things in life? »; Without a doubt, these things are quite normal but I am going to ask you a few questions: « Without this thing you feel like you have no more life? Or does it mean everything to you? ? Are you raising them above God in your life? ”If the answers are YES, then you are clear. But if you still have apprehensions you can always send me a message through the WordPress or facebook platform ( https://www.facebook.com/Consistency-100638999063930/ ).
Now back to our two categories of people that I mentioned we have spiritual introverts like I said and spiritual extroverts.

1) the spiritual introvert
The spiritual introvert is that person who loves the secret place who loves being with God, who loves the presence of God; it is all that entertains him; to be and to remain in the presence of God. I am not saying that it is a bad thing on the contrary it is excellent even, but in the case of this person, the family, the souls, the ministry (and when I speak of ministry: I do not speak only of the service at church or ministries mentioned in the bible (biblical verse), when I speak of ministry I am talking about anything that aims to give glory to God; it can be your business, a simple activity, your youtube channel but if it is made for worship and glory to God then it is a ministry.), it does not matter to him. The presence of God became an idol for him.

God certainly wants us to spend time with him that we give him the place that owed him, but He also said in Matthew, 28: 19-20 << – Go, make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world. >> How do we serve God and evangelize if we remain comfortably seated in our room and refuse God’s call for our life? God has deposited and invested so much in you that you wouldn’t want to bring these things out. Believe me, the world needs you, and you make a difference. It’s not for flattering you, it’s just the truth about you. Matthew, 5: 13-16 <>

2) the spiritual extrovert
Here it is the case of a Christian who loves the ministry more than God, when he prays it is for power, for spiritual gifts, for a new ministry. These things are not bad but compared to God himself? Let us not forget that He is not a machine or a vending machine, He also has feelings, a personality, He wants to speak to you as a Father, and wants to have fellowship with you, He wants to spend quality time with you outside of your requests. He wants to reveal himself to you completely as a « person » and not just as a provider or a healer….
Have more interest in ministry, gifts or anything similar than the Person of God represents an idol. God wants us to serve him, but first of all he wants us to seek him before anything that he has to offer, for he is the God of all things;

Matthew 6:33 << Seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of God; and all these things will be given to you on top of it. >>

I want you to be balanced, think of souls, of ministry, but don’t forget also your first love, conversely think of your first love, spend time with him as much as you can, but don’t forget your mission on earth . Balance!
